Tesi 3

The Tesi 3 loudspeaker is a larger member of the new generation of the Tesi series by Indiana Line. This 2-way model is inspired by the Tesi 261 speaker, but compared to its predecessor, it incorporates many enhancements that result in a dynamic sound and mitigate the impact of unwanted resonances within the structure on the reproduced audio.

Indiana Line Tesi 3

Representing the latest iteration of the Tesi series, the Tesi 3 bookshelf model not only presents itself exceptionally well but also delivers an attractive, balanced, clear, and dynamic sound – unparalleled in its price class. The new Tesi line models boast innovative technical solutions, incorporating components proven in the latest flagship Diva series models while maintaining a simple and versatile design. The Tesi 3 model is available in three colour variants – black oak, white, and mocha, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into the decor of any interior.

Reinforced enclosure, universal style

The Tesi 3 model features an internally reinforced MDF enclosure. In comparison to the Tesi 261 model, the dimensions have slightly changed – it is approximately 2 cm shorter and has a depth of 1 cm smaller. The front-facing bass reflex port facilitates easy placement in a room while ensuring dynamic low tones. The mid-woofer driver basket has a trim ring, contributing to the speaker’s aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the Tesi 3 model has a magnetic grille, and like other models in the new generation Tesi series, it boasts gently rounded corners, highlighting the speaker’s universal design.

Tweeter with a new front panel

The Indiana Line Tesi 3 – much like its predecessor – features a 26-millimeter high-frequency transducer with the Indiana Line’s special feature: a Radial Venting Chamber and a powerful neodymium magnet. However, there is a notable change in the front design of the tweeter. The Tesi 3 model adopts a rectangular shape, reminiscent of the latest designs from Indiana Line’s flagship Diva series but crafted using a simplified mounting technique. This original approach ensures that the tweeter visually complements the midwoofer much more seamlessly, simultaneously elevating the aesthetic qualities of the Tesi 3 model.

Improved midwoofer

The midwoofer has been optimized using modern design techniques. It boasts a 16 cm membrane with high rigidity, crafted from mica-polypropylene blend. Key elements of the midwoofer include the inductance linearization ring and a larger magnet compared to the Tesi 261 model. Moreover, the original phase plug has been replaced in the Tesi 3 with a dust cap in the new Tesi 3. These components contribute to a low level of distortion and further enhance linearity and the processing of low frequencies – the bass is distinct and deep. This results in greater detail and clarity in the sound, especially when playing audio at higher volumes.

Dual-Wave – innovative suspension system

The low-midrange speaker in the Tesi 3 model features the innovative Dual-Wave suspension, making its debut in higher-tier models of Indiana Line’s Diva series. The Dual-Wave suspension visually resembles the accordion-like springs found in stage speakers. Carefully designed to enhance the linear operating range of the electroacoustic transducer and reduce intermodulation distortion, with a particular focus on low frequencies, this suspension system has a significant impact on improving sound clarity in the midrange of the acoustic spectrum. This is particularly evident when listening to recordings featuring acoustic, string, and percussion instruments.

Improved speaker crossover design

Tesi 3 boasts a carefully optimized speaker crossover designed using modern design techniques and specialized measurement systems. The crossover’s topology and the quality of its components are based on solutions implemented in models from the Diva series. As a result, a smooth impedance characteristic, high efficiency, low distortion levels, and optimal off-axis sound dispersion have been achieved. Thanks to these advancements, the Tesi 3 seamlessly collaborates with any amplifier or AV receiver.

100% polyester damping

All Indiana Line cabinets are filled with polyester – a synthetic non-woven fabric of high purity, known for its excellent damping of the internal resonances of the speaker cabinets. What's more, polyester is also extremely resistant to stretching, drying and moisture.

Air coils and film capacitors

In order to emphasize the exceptionally clear and natural sound of our loudspeakers, we decided to get rid of the troublesome components from the crossover where it was necessary – in the tweeter filter. In all loudspeaker models in which this filter is used, we use only air coils and foil capacitors. These elements do not introduce harmful distortions to the filtered signal, as is the case with ferrite core coils and electrolytic capacitors.

Aluring

The short-circuit ring is made of pure, perfectly electrically conductive aluminum (1010). It has been placed inside the magnetic system of the mid-woofer. By linearizing the impedance of the loudspeaker, it positively influences the sound of the low and medium frequencies of the acoustic band, significantly reducing non-linear distortions. The ring also absorbs the heat emitted from the speaker coil, increasing its thermal load capacity.

Computer-optimized crossover design

The use of numerical calculations allowed for obtaining a balanced frequency response and low level of distortion, as well as reducing power losses. The obtained sound results were verified by many hours of listening tests. The tweeter filter circuit uses only air coils and foil capacitors. This allowed to avoid distortions that often appear in the case of electrolytic capacitors or coils with a ferrite core. Core coils, when present in a crossover, have a laminated high-silicon iron core, which minimizes distortion from the iron cores.

Dual-Wave suspension

The Dual-Wave upper spring is an original, precisely designed membrane suspension that expands the range of linear operation of the loudspeaker. It reduces distortion, especially in the low bass registers, and improves the articulation of the midrange of the acoustic band. This translates into improved sound of instruments, especially percussion, string and acoustic ones. Thanks to the Dual-Wave solution, unevenness of the frequency response, which results from the resonance of the membrane edge, is also reduced, without the need to varnish it. Dual-Wave suspension drivers also have an eye-pleasing appearance that refers to professional designs used, among others, on stages and equipped with the so-called accordion springs.

Mica-poly cone

Universal and extremely popular polypropylene is a valued material, often used for speaker membranes. However, in order to ensure the most faithful transmission of micro-details, we decided to further increase the stiffness of the cone. We achieved this by doping polypropylene with a mineral called mica. This shiny, hard material significantly improves the parameters of the membrane, guaranteeing the transducer a long and reliable operation, and at the same time giving it an attractive appearance.

Radialvent

A radial damping chamber that prevents harmful reflections under the tweeter dome while allowing it to achieve a low resonance frequency. The small, but at the same time strong magnet of the tweeter is surrounded by a space in which – due to its shape – standing waves cannot be generated, which is the case with classic radial chambers located in the axis of the dome.
